ENJOY THE SIGHTS IN SCARBOROUGH

There is a host of things to do for young and old in Scarborough you can wander through the Italian gardens up to the Spa or explore the Old Town and the 12th century castle, then head to North Bay for breath taking panoramic coastal views, finishing off with a visit to Peasholm Park, an oriental delight, brimming with beauty, from its waterfall and lily pond to the open air concerts.

Scarborough has a strong music and art culture, with many live performances during the week, have a look at The Merchant and Commercial. The Open Air Theatre, is a spectacular place to see performances.  Stephen Joseph theatre is a really immersive experience with fantastic productions.  Scarborough Spa, also offers a huge range of events.

There is a vast array of walks with or without dogs. Dogs are allowed on North Beach and South Beach all year round at either end of the beach, which is clearly marked. And when you have built up an appetite from all that excercise, Scarborough has many fabulous independent restaurants.  Our recommended favourites for Fish are The Lookout, brilliant for breakfast, lunch or a lobster dinner, Café Fish, high quality and great prices.  Best Italians are Giannis for an authentic experience and running a close second to this for a relaxed family meal is Florios. There are plenty of Indian’s but recommend The Taj on Falsgrave (where you can take your own drinks).  Do also try Lezzet for a Mediterranean extravaganza, Nave Sushi, which does a range of really lovely Thai and Sushi dishes.

And if that's not enough on your  doorstep there  is also Whitby, Filey and Dalby Forest a very short drive away.

Scarborough Castle stands on a massive promontory of rock that rises above the North Sea. Its 12th-century great tower is the centrepiece of a royal castle begun by Henry II. It became one of the greatest royal fortresses in England and figured prominently in national events during the Middle Ages and, has been intermittently inhabited and fortified for nearly 3,000.  Explore the history of the early Iron Age Settlements, to the Roman signal stations and medieval chapel. The views are stunning and a must to explore during your stay

Stephen Joseph Theatre is the country’s first theatre-in-the-round, and is a really immersive experience with fantastic productions throughout the year.  From classics to contemporary, theatre or film. It is a truly unique experience and one not to be missed. The one and only Alan Ayckbourn is the artistic director and lives in Scarborough's historic Old Town.
